Apprentice of the Year criteria
This award recognises an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all aspects of their apprenticeship.

This should be an individual who:
·  Willingly goes above and beyond
·  Demonstrates commitment to personal development and progression
·  Makes an outstanding contribution
·  Demonstrates a flexible and positive attitude
·  Shows commitment to the council's values and behaviours
Community Support criteria
Working within local government, we all support the community either directly on the front-line or indirectly via a back-office function or support function. This award recognises an individual or team who have made a significant impact in the local community, either directly or indirectly, and covers a wide remit of support such as community wellbeing, front and back-office community support, finance, safety, environment, legal services, public health, local business, residents, etc.

This should be an individual or team who:
·  Regularly exceeds expectations to support the community either directly or indirectly
·  Actively promotes and champions equality, diversity and inclusion either internally or externally
·  Strives for opportunities to build on and improve support to the community either directly or indirectly
·  Shows commitment to the council’s values and behaviours
Customer Service criteria
This is awarded to an individual or team who provide a great customer service and continually improve and surpass expectations. This award is open to any team or individual who delivers a service to a customer, regardless of who that customer is, (e.g. a member of the public, another council team/employee, a partner organisation, etc).

This should be an individual or team who:

·  Goes the extra mile to meet customers' needs
·  Maintains high standards of service and customer satisfaction
·  Engages customers with enthusiasm
·  Uses their knowledge base of customer needs to identify/suggest ways to solve problems and/or improve processes
·  Puts customers and their needs at the heart of their service
·  Shows commitment to the council’s values and behaviours
Employee of the Year criteria
This award recognises an individual who has accomplished an excellent achievement, or has made an outstanding contribution to the council, or has continually supported service to a high standard.

This should be an individual who:
·  Continually goes the ‘extra-mile’ in their role, irrespective of what type or level of role their job is
·  Provides outstanding support to their service and the council
·  May have received either internal or external recognition for a significant achievement
·  Acts as a positive role model for colleagues
·  Has made a substantial contribution to one or more of the council’s values and behaviours
Innovation and Bright Idea criteria
This award recognises an individual or team who has either suggested, developed, revised or implemented a system, tool, process, initiative or programme that has successfully improved service delivery or efficiency.

This should be an individual or team who:
·  Has created and implemented a unique process to improve a service
·  Enhanced service delivery through an innovative idea; n.b. this could be a small idea which makes a big positive impact
·  Helped create value for money through an innovative idea
·  Enhanced the work environment through an innovative idea
·  Made a real difference to another team, individual or customer through an innovative idea
·  Shows commitment to the council’s values and behaviours
Making a Difference to Our Customers' Lives criteria
This award recognises an individual or a team who continually demonstrates excellent service and strives for opportunities to improve the lives of clients, customers and/or residents.

This should be an individual or team who:
·  Continually goes the extra mile to support clients, customers and residents
·  Continually demonstrates excellent practice in caring for our residents, supporting and empowering through independent living
·  Strives for opportunities to build on and improve service processes
·  Shows commitment to the council’s values and behaviours
Manager of the Year criteria
This award recognises a manager or leader who goes the extra mile to support, motivate, develop and inspire others whilst exemplifying positive leadership behaviours and shows a commitment to the council’s values and behaviours.

This should be an individual who:
·  Communicates, engages, listens, and encourages ideas and suggestions from their team
·  Makes themselves visible, approachable and responsive to the needs of individuals and teams
·  Encourages and empowers
·  Recognises contributions made by both individuals and the team
Partnerships criteria
This is awarded to an individual or team who demonstrates excellent performance in partnership working either internally or externally. This could include adding value by working with key organisations within the community or highly effective cross-team/directorate partnership working that has had a positive impact on the project or service. Under this category it is possible for both Medway Council employees and the contractors/partners they work with to be nominated.

This should be an individual or team who:
·  Actively and effectively engage with either partners or contractors
·  Work to maintain a positive working relationship with either partners or contractors
·  Demonstrates innovation and creativity in working in partnership to improve service delivery and/or internal processes
·  Demonstrates a positive impact on the service that the partnership is delivering, and the partner organisation
·  Shows a commitment to the council's values and behaviours
Team of the Year criteria
This award recognises a team that provides an exceptional and positive service as a result of team working. This team will have shared values, work effectively with other teams and individuals, and achieve success together.

This should be a team who:
·  Consistently and willingly go above and beyond their service requirements
·  Shows a commitment to continuous improvement and the council’s values and behaviours
·  Demonstrates excellence in their approach to both internal and external customers, colleagues and the outcomes they deliver
·  Develops new ideas that achieve benefits for both their service and the council
·  Builds strong and effective relationships beyond the team, sharing best practice
Unsung Hero/es criteria
This award recognises the achievements of an individual or team who consistently go beyond their job description or step outside of their normal work to help Medway deliver its objectives. In doing so they will have brought about change and clear benefits to either customers or colleagues through their creative thinking, commitment, vision, determination and drive. It’s unlikely that the winner of this award will have been formally recognised by the council for their efforts in the past.

This should be an individual or team who:
·  Consistently makes a significant difference to the lives of service users, customers or colleagues
·  Regularly exceed what would normally be expected of them
·  Regularly go out of their way to help others without being asked
·  Consistently provide an excellent service to customers and colleagues
·  Embodies the spirit of Medway and believe in what we do, showing a commitment to our values and behaviours
James Williams Colleagues' Choice criteria
The winner of this award is chosen by the workforce and would be an individual or team who has exemplified the new council values and behaviours during the course of their work. This may be one specific event/achievement, and your nomination could relate to one or multiple values and behaviours. The nomination must give clear examples of how the value(s) and behaviour(s) have been met.
·  Pride – this may be a colleague or team who have gone over and above in their work to make you feel exceptionally proud. An action that makes the council want to shout it from the rooftops!
·  Caring – this may be a colleague or team who has gone the extra mile to show caring and compassion for others
·  Respectful – a colleague or team who show(s) great respect and thoughtfulness for the people and places of Medway
·  Trusted – a colleague or team who can be relied upon 100% at all times and show professionalism and take accountability for all they do
·  Ambitious – a colleague or team who act(s) as a driving force to support the council’s goals and aspirations for success
·  Collaborative – a colleague or team who effectively communicates, collaborates and engages with others to achieve service and/or organisational success
